Picture it. Summer of '95. Windows down, radio up. A song called "New Church Street" fills the airwaves, and it's everywhere. Four friends in a New Jersey band have the biggest hit of their lives.
Except it never happened.
We were Little Green Men, a New Jersey band in the mid-'90s. We put out an album called Augustine Nights in 1994 and another, Fantastic Relish, in 1995. Cassette only. No record deal. No big break.
In 1995, Julian wrote "New Church Street," music and lyrics. It's about a first love who lived on New Church Street in Rahway, NJ. Then the demo went into a drawer, and it stayed there for thirty years.
How many bands wrote songs that could have been classics, and nobody ever heard them?
Back then, getting a song like this onto the radio took a $100,000 record deal, a top producer and a budget we never had. Now AI has knocked those walls down. So we did it. We remade the songs with AI and kept the original 1995 lyrics, melodies and music exactly as Julian wrote them. The music was always there. Now it can finally be heard.
We know what some people will say: that's not the band playing every instrument. They're right, and we're not hiding it. But the songs are ours. The lyrics are ours. The melodies are ours. They've been ours since 1995.
Straight up: these recordings were made with AI. The 1995 lyrics, melodies and music are unchanged, written by Julian Romero of Little Green Men. We're releasing them as LGM '95.
Don't take our word for it. Here's the real thing: the original Fantastic Relish cassette from 1995, exactly as it sounded back then. Then press play up top and hear what it was always meant to be.
